Opening hours, 2026
Volunteers work in the History Centre on Mondays and Tuesdays, 10am – 2pm. Family researchers are also welcome at this time. Colac Cemetery Virtualisation Pilot
This project, about to be launched in June 2026, uses the CDFHG research for our Almost Forgotten project. Visitors to the Colac Cemetery will soon be able to visit and by downloading a free mobile app, will be able to hear stories of people who died before 1900.

Shire Grant
During 2025 we received a grant from the Colac Otway Shire which enabled us, with an equal amount from our own savings, to purchase and install eight new computers. The previous computers were each of different ages and capacities, so now we have more up-to-date and secure tools that we can use to continue to add to our comprehensive Family History database.

Celebrating 40 years
It is 40 years since the Colac & District Family History Group began. At our final meeting for 2021 we celebrated with a special afternoon tea. Click here to listen to some founding members reminisce about the early days of the group
