NOTES: After training in Australia and Canada, Cecil gained his wings and was drafted to serve in Bomber Command in the Royal Air Force (RAF) in England. Later on he was posted to an operational training unit (OTU) as an instructor until early 1944 when he was drafted back to Australia. Cecil was then sent on to New Guinea and flew missions with the Americans. The Americans moved north up into the Philippines by the end of 1944 and the Australians were left with the containment job.
