State Library of Victoria Visit

If you don’t already have an State Library of Victoria membership, please apply on-line before Wednesday – it only takes a couple of minutes and will allow you to order items from the heritage collection to view while we are at the SLV.  A membership number will be emailed to you.

ITINERARY

Travelling by train from Colac – collect your train ticket on Monday or Tuesday at the History Centre or from Merrill at the Colac Railway Station on Wednesday morning.

Colac to Melbourne train departs at 7:29am. It is recommended to be at the station by 7:15 at the latest – we are booked in carriage A, which is the first carriage on the train. (return train is 5:06pm)

10:30am State Library Tour

All participants are to meet at the Swanston Street entrance foyer – Our guides will be Mel and Caitlin and the tour will take approximately one hour.

If you are staying for the afternoon:

Lunch – there are several cafés and food halls in the QV Melbourne and Melbourne Central opposite the library or Mr Tulk café at the State Library https://mrtulk.com.au/menu/   (booking recommended – it is popular – please text me by Monday if this is your choice)

Is there something you would like to order to view during our visit?

Go to the SLV website https://www.slv.vic.gov.au/  Put a key word in the search bar and select from the item list e.g. manuscripts, rare books, maps etc.  Log in from that screen, select the item to be ordered and follow the instructions. Place the order and the item will be available to view when you are at the library on Wednesday.
